LEAN MANUFACTURING
In 2001 Airline Manufacturing Company began to implement widespread changes in its manufacturing processes. The company is focusing on eliminating waste in processes and expanding capacity by reducing costs and shortening cycle time between customer order and ship date. Airline's lean manufacturing efforts are customer focused and customer driven.

Dry-Kilned Hardwood: Drying-related defects are eliminated with computer-controlled kilns that assure slow, gentle drying for superior lumber quality.

Surfacing: Capable of producing over 50,000 BF per shift with our Newman-Whitney S382 planer.
Cut First: Defects are removed and wood is cut to precise lengths using Paul optimizing and pigtail cross-cut and panel saws.
Ripsaws and Gang Rips: Simultaneously produce a wide variety of species, thicknesses, and widths using straight line ripsaws and gang rips.
Moulding: Our state-of-the-art equipment allows us to efficiently and accurately manufacture wood components to meet your specifications and requirements.
Glued Panels: Airline has 8 glue clamps to utilize "off-fall" from ripped wood
Boring: Custom drilling with our large number of horizontal, vertical, and edge boring machines.
Shaping: Custom wood shaping with our round table and profile shapers.
CNC Bandsaw and Routers: Production of large quantity of engineered wood with speed and accuracy. Your furniture component patterns are easily digitized, nested, routed, and bored, saving you the expense of having to manage your own bandsaw and drilling operations.
Panel Saws: Use optimization software for digitized and nested cuttings of engineered wood for maximum yield.
Sanding and Surfacing: Smooth components with Timesaver sanders and drum sanders to desired finish.
Shipping: Company owned trucking fleet assures on time delivery of strapped and bundled or palletized and shrink-wrapped components ready for delivery to your location.
Quality Control: Consistent high quality products are obtained with QC checks performed throughout each stage of operation. Tolerance specifications meet the woodworking industry's standard of + or - 1/32".
Assembly and Staining: We also pre-assemble frame components, stain and package to your specifications. This allows you to do what you do best - make furniture. Our just-in-time sourcing capability of pre-assembled and stained components frees up your inventory dollars and floor space for higher value uses.
Other Value-added Capabilities: Addition of t-nuts, clips, dowels, glides, and springs. When your components leave our facility they are ready for final assembly.
